Glamour
Growing up in the 60's and 70's, I would see my mother sitting at the kitchen table putting these curlers in her hair. She had this beauty ritual. Dip the teasing brush in the water, tap off the extra, brush her hair from root to end, the place the curler (without pin)at the end, then tightly wind the roller to her scalp, pushing one pin in to hold it in place. She kept her curlers in an old box under the sink, with her teasing brush. I recreated the scene, with every girls go to magazine, Glamour. I read Glamour religiously as a teen. I composed this still life painting to bring your eye to the brush and corner of magazine, where reality meets fiction. A fun painting for remembering the women in our lives. Perfect girl for Mom, sister, aunt, grandmother or anyone who loves Glamour. Classic, vintage, simple- all my favorite elements of a good still life painting.
