Crossin' the Bridge
16" x 20", Oil Painting, 2013.
I saw a few kids walking home from school-it was the last day of school in Schenectady, where I am the art teacher. From the window of a fellow teacher's room, I see the exodus of students crossing this bridge to their home in Hamilton Hill, a challenging neighborhood in Schenectady. The road Education Drive is real. It is the street that leads to the school offices. Kids say they live "cross the bridge." It defines my students. This brother and sister reflect the innocence of urban childhood.
