Painted during the Ticonderoga Arts Fall Harvest Plein Air Festival, Up to Chilson received the Promotional Award. I painted this along side a road in Ticonderoga. What is not really seen in the painting are all the cows that came to visit me! They seemed so curious why I was just standing there for a few hours on a Saturday morning. The trees provided a nice rhythm of shadows as the light bounced down the road. The dairy farm had little bits of color often seen on farms. The contrast of the colors in nature and the colors on the farm, and the narrative quality of the scene were irresistible.
